Definition

Pesach (/ˈpɛsɑːx, ˈpeɪ-/; Biblical Hebrew: חַג הַפֶּסַח)

  1. The major Jewish spring festival, which commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery; it lasts seven or eight days from the 15th day of Nisan (March or April)
  2. From pass over ‘pass without touching’, with reference to the exemption of the Israelites from the death of their firstborn (Exod. 12).
  3. The origin story of the Jewish people from a coalition of tribes into one nation, one people, under one covenant, and therefore, it is absolutely disgusting that JVP and others hijack / appropriate the holiday to make it about Palestine
  4. The biggest family holiday in the Jewish world, especially in the West.
  5. Zionist AF.

What Passover Is

A celebration of Jewish peoplehood, freedom, nationhood, covenant, and self-determination in our ancestral homeland.

What Passover Is Not

Palestinianism requires Jewish subservience; we must constantly turn out our pockets1 and have suicidal empathy2 as “privileged” Jews, no matter the reality or cost.

  • Passover (Pesach) is not about Palestine.
  • Passover is not about anyone but the Jewish people.
  • Passover is not to be used to call for the liberation of others.
  • Passover is not to be used to call for the destruction of Israel; it’s literally the opposite of that.
