January Mad Mensch: Month in Review
So much happened in such little time. Inside: Hostages come home. JVP Watch. ProSemitic. JudeaPedia. And more
Thank you SO MUCH to all for joining and helping me reach my initial goal on this journey to help me get to Israel! We made it! That $1,800 seemed like a tall order at the time. I’ve (cautiously) updated it to $3,600 and will continue to use it to network and support my journey while I also look for my next gig in Jewish and music spaces.
This trip is going to be so special to me and enable me to not just experience Israel and our history but connect with other queer Jews and leaders. Thank you again!

From the GoFundMe:
Hi tribe! Finally, after much delay, my first trip to Israel is imminent. Here, you’ll find a combined fundraiser, including any past donations (Venmo, Honeyfund). All updates will happen here.
I’m Bobby Apperson, and I’ve never been to the motherland.
I discovered I was Jewish later in life and formally converted during COVID.
Between that and much moving around—I just got settled into New York City—I’m finally ready to pull the trigger! But just in time to wrap up my main paid project.
I will go to Israel for a short first foray to VOLUNTEER, LEARN, CONNECT, and ABSORB. I will document the journey in full here, as well as @doingjewish on Instagram and Doing Jewish Blog.
I shuttered my small business one year ago, so I’m recovering from that still.
Given all that and my part-time work in the Jewish world, any support you give here will go a long way.
Thank you so much for all your support, encouragement, and shares, especially during this difficult time. I have included an initial, doable goal of $1,800 and hope to surpass that ($3,600 would be AMAZING).
Am Israel Chai.
